The pipe organ at Our Lady of Refuge in Brooklyn sounded awful and barely played before its restoration. The parish does not have the financial wealth it once had, but is a busy and active church that is doing fine. The pipe organ's restoration was paid for through donations from all over the world, over 1500 - many of those people had never set foot in Brooklyn. The work was carried out by two of the finest organ building firms in the USA today: A.R. Schopp's Sons and Quimby Pipe Organs.
Now it is one of the most glorious pipe organs in New York City - I dare say the best small pipe organ in New York City.
